A workshop for computer users new to the Mac. If you’re a proficient computer user but just feel a little lost after switching to a Mac, this class is for you. We’ll immerse you in the Macintosh way of doing things and guide you through the quirks and conventions of starting up, fine tuning settings, managing files, connecting peripherals, printing, networking, and using Apple’s bundled applications.

Photography Workshops, Field Trips and Walk-Abouts

Almost nobody visits Vermont in the fall without a camera. If you want to take the opportunity to improve your photography with professional instruction or guiding, Northshire Digital Arts Center has several offerings for you.

Intro to DSLR Photography

Merck Forest Photo Field Trips

Sat., October 8th – $75 per person
Sat., October 15th – $75 per person
Join a small group of fellow photo enthusiasts and enjoy a professionally guided photo safari at Merck Forest & Farmland center. Get hands-on instruction, learn new techniques and tips for improving your photography as you explore the barn areas and the nature trails through the lens. These outings are led by Christine Glade, a professional photographer and Jack Glade, an avid area hiker and amateur photographer, and are appropriate for all skill levels and photographic interests.

You can meet the group at Merck Forest in Rupert or free group transportation is provided from The Tutorial Center in Manchester. You’ll be at Merck at around 9:00am and will spend the morning photographing Vermont’s natural beauty – from macro florals, brilliant foliage, stunning landscapes and animals. The walk to the farm center is an easy walk but more strenuous hikes can be arranged if you prefer. You’ll head back to Manchester at 12:30 for refreshments along with photo sharing and critique. Custom Photo Walk Abouts

Arrange for your own personal photography excursion in a variety of Southern Vermont settings such as Manchester Village or other local agricultural and natural areas. Led by a professional photographer, your instruction will be tailored to your interests and skill level. These Photo Walk Abouts are available to visitors and residents, and can be arranged for 2 to 4 hours depending on your interests. Small group transportation provided. Why are my photos blurry? How do I shoot my child’s soccer game? That’s not how that picture looked in my head. We hear these comments all the time. Learn all the best tips and techniques for photographing your family, especially children, with any camera – compact and DSLRs. You’ll learn to capture better action images and portraits.

Not Your Typical Fireworks

Consider using that Fireworks setting on your camera after the Fourth of July this year. Here the setting was used at night on a Ferris Wheel at the carnival. Because the shutter stays open longer a tripod would be ideal, but these shots were taken without one. Just remember to brace yourself to stay as steady as possible.
